Reclaiming a Domain: Unlocking a Domain Previously Used with Microsoft 365

In this blog post, I shared my frustrating experience trying to enable Microsoft 365 for an internet domain I purchased from GoDaddy. The domain was previously used by another company and registered in their Microsoft 365 tenant, which resulted in an error message. I tried several methods to resolve the issue but found that no action on my side nor contacting the domain seller would help. Instead, I had to open a case with Microsoft Support’s Data Protection team, who managed the case and notified the previous owners of the domain. After receiving a confirmation email from Microsoft support, I was able to add the domain with no issues.
